GO Awards Scotland 2010-11

Affiliated with Procurex Scotland 2010, The Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland 2010-11 aim to recognise excellence within procurement and the benefits to the wider business and social community that smart, effective and sustainable purchasing can deliver.

Scotland has a thriving business community and a forward-thinking approach to public procurement. Public sector spending on goods and services across Scotland is estimated to be £9.2 billion per annum, with an estimated £1 billion of this spend relating to ‘Category A’ common goods and services, as currently defined.

The categories for the Awards reflect many of the key areas of focus within public procurement:

Recognising that procurement is about buyers and suppliers working together, the GO Collaborative Procurement Initiative Award will highlight examples of best practice in this important area. The GO Awards Scotland also include categories, such as Best Service, for which entries from SME organisations are encouraged.

The highlight of the GO Awards Scotland is the coveted Outstanding Contribution Award, presented to an individual who has played a significant role in effecting positive change within the Scottish business and/or public sector procurement community.

The Awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow on the first evening of Procurex Scotland, 26 October. The After Dinner Speaker at this year's Awards ceremony will be Steve Nallon, writer and performer and original member of the Spitting Image Team.
