Skills Development Zones

Public procurement in Scotland will face significant changes as the Scottish Government’s Public Procurement Strategy: 2023-2028 comes into effect, which aims to put public procurement at the heart of a sustainable economy to maximise value for the people of Scotland.

Procurex Scotland will therefore host four skills development zones to reflect the key enablers of the Strategy, providing buyers and suppliers with the opportunity to hear from key figures and decision makers in public procurement and learn how they can effectively engage with and support the Strategy’s intended outcomes.

Procurement is a people business. The Procurement Capability Zone focuses in on how the profession is developing individuals and teams – as well as leading, attracting and retaining new and existing talent.

Healthy supply chains are fundamental to the success of public sector procurement. This Zone focuses on providing support and opportunities for suppliers to develop and navigate an evolving landscape – contributing to positive outcomes for communities, society and organisations.

This Zone focuses in on effective engagement between buyers and suppliers – a key enabler of successful procurement activity and an area where Scotland has already made significant progress.

Strengthening collaboration and engagement across the public procurement landscape allows for consistent approaches and the sharing of best practice. In this Zone delegates will be inspired by great examples of collaboration and learn how they can do the same.
